Inspired by a variety of European courts, namely France, England and Italy, Gustavian furniture originated as a way to introduce sophisticated European character into Swedish culture. Because of the long, dark winters, however, Gustavian furnishings were often painted or guilded as a way to lighten the traditional stained wood. Carvings were also simplified as a way to represent humble character in spite of royal inspiration.
The AWI Gustavian pillow is Anne’s personal favorite style. Simple self-welt offers tailored lines, while intricate cupcake pleat corners and decorative trim represent Anne’s passion for detail. The AWI Gustavian pillow is offered in any combination of seven linen fabric colorways and four trim styles, each with multiple colorways. A down insert and zipper are included.
